Awakening [Unintentional Video/Action] - 01

[The morning had a dullness to it, a sort of dreariness that just seemed to make time go slowly. Even nature seemed to be having a hard time getting started today. The clearing in the forest was still and quiet, except for the stirrings of an old man who was slowly coming back into consciousness. He has a long beard, and a far receded hair line. Despite his age, he is well muscled individual. As his eyes slowly open he stretches a bit and winces. There is a moment or two as he gazes around his surroundings, taking everything in and sizing it up.]

This is certainly a strange place to wake up. I don't recall drinking any wine yesterday.

[He strokes his beard thoughtfully for a moment. He gives another wince and stretches his back a little. It is clear something strange has happened. It is then he turns his head for a second, and then startled turns it again]

Wings?! Since when do I have wings?!

[He shakes his head a second, and gives his cheek a pinch. It would seem he wasn't sleeping. When he had journeyed to the spirit world before he had maintained his shape, though that was the closest approximation he could make]

Mmmmm. I could use a cup of tea, and perhaps a bit of breakfast. Although I suppose that would be a bit much to ask.

[His gaze goes to the book which had a strange look to it, curiously he moved forward and taps it and... the feed cuts out]

[Just another patrol in the forest for Saleh. He wanders by the clearing and spots the old man in the new feather garb, looking quite disoriented. He looks like he needs a hand, so Saleh will approach casually.]

Ah...pardon me. You look in need of assistance.

[Well it seemed at the very least he wasn't alone here]

Ah, yes. I would be most grateful for any assistance.

[He smiles slightly.]

I am Saleh. I can lead you to the village and answer any questions you may have. Or if you're tired or injured, I can lead you to the small shelter nearby, and heal your wounds.

[Now that's a familiar voice. Aang peers into his journal to check.]

...Iroh? Is that you?

[Iroh looks a little startled by this. Perhaps he was in fact in the spirit world]

Aang? How are we speaking to one another, this doesn't feel like the spirit world, but yet something is off.

It's definitely not the Spirit World! [Something he often has to clear up. Although at least in this case it isn't because the person in question is from a time after his death.] It's just a magic book. We are in a different world, though.

Iroh-san? [The face peering back from the video feed belongs to a dark-haired girl of Asian ancestry. She looks somewhat flustered, or at least surprised to see him - again, it must be, considering she'd used his name. Her expression resolves itself to a smile.] I'm glad to see you again.

[Iroh still looks a bit confused about the whole faces appearing in the book deal, but he is doing his best to adjust. He wasn't familiar with this girl, though he noticed she was quite pretty. He returns the smile, but it fades briefly for a moment]

Ah-yes? You are certainly a lovely sight to these eyes, but I'm afraid I don't remember you. My apologies.

[He inclined his head]

[The polite smile wavers a little at that. After this long here, she should be used to the constant coming and going, and forgetting, but even if she tells herself that a thousand times, it stings to be forgotten.

The smile is back in place after just a moment, with a conscious effort.]

I'm sorry for saying something strange, then. I'm Ami Mizuno; I'm pleased to meet you.

We have tea at our house if you want me to bring you some!! I don't mind 'cause there's like half a pot left and we can always make more later. How much tea did you want? What do you want for breakfast? I like to have pancakes for breakfast but those take a while to make.

That is very nice of you. I would be happy to brew some myself later, it helps me focus when I am a bit off balance.

I may be old, but I believe I can manage to make it to the village, I have traveled across most of the world after all.

There is something rather like a tea shop in the village. It's called a "coffee shop," but they brew excellent tea as well.

[Apparently the magic book didn't just show pictures, it could also simply mimic voices, how utterly fascinating]

A coffee shop? I can't say I'm familiar with the word, but as long as they have tea I am willing to give it a try.

[He is confident that he could brew superior tea. Best in Ba Sing Se! He will reserve judgment until he tastes it though. It was always nice to see how different people did so]

[Upon seeing the conversation with Ikki, Sokka lets out a sigh. Oh, that girl...]

So... I'm guessing by now, you're even more confused than when you first arrived, huh?

[He figured it would all start coming together eventually. He wasn't going to be rude to the little girl]

I would advise you to be careful with those wings. The Malnosso put them on everyone and damaging them can be hazardous to your health.

[Iroh blinks a moment. He wasn't accustomed to blue hair]

Ah, thank you. I will try to keep them from getting harmed.

[Katara is just on her way back from a shift at the Med Lab in the Battle Dome. She's not REALLY looking forward to cooking their growing family dinner, so she's thinking of stopping by the super market and trying out the 'frozen food' section.

It seemed like cheating.

But she was tempted.

Torn between her conscience and convenience, Katara almost walked right past a certain new feather... except Iroh was kind of hard to miss.]

General Iroh?

[Crap. When would he have come from? She didn't think he'd try to attack her either way, but if he was from before the end... oh no, and Zuko, had he even had a chance to talk to him? How long would he stay this time? But more importantly, was she going to have to fight him?]

[He had heard there were a few people from home here. So far he had only seen them on the strange book he had. When he heard his former title and name being said it was a bit startling]

[He turned his head to the voice, and saw Katara. It was undeniably her, they hadn't had many interactions, but his nephew had trusted her enough to accompany him to fight Azula, what was more, they had been victorious.

He gave her a friendly smile]

Katara, it is nice to see you! Although... it seems like this is not the most ideal of circumstances.

Apparently I'm always running late nowadays.

Zuko. I did just arrive here. I am at the village now, looking for a shirt in a store. I think I can manage clothing myself, I remember changing your diaper now and again after all.

[Because relatives ain't relatives unless they bring up embarrassing stuff]

You should relax a little, I am in no present danger. Come on by, we'll go to the restaurant and have a bite to eat.
