Awakening [Unintentional Video/Action] - 01

[The morning had a dullness to it, a sort of dreariness that just seemed to make time go slowly. Even nature seemed to be having a hard time getting started today. The clearing in the forest was still and quiet, except for the stirrings of an old man who was slowly coming back into consciousness. He has a long beard, and a far receded hair line. Despite his age, he is well muscled individual. As his eyes slowly open he stretches a bit and winces. There is a moment or two as he gazes around his surroundings, taking everything in and sizing it up.]

This is certainly a strange place to wake up. I don't recall drinking any wine yesterday.

[He strokes his beard thoughtfully for a moment. He gives another wince and stretches his back a little. It is clear something strange has happened. It is then he turns his head for a second, and then startled turns it again]

Wings?! Since when do I have wings?!

[He shakes his head a second, and gives his cheek a pinch. It would seem he wasn't sleeping. When he had journeyed to the spirit world before he had maintained his shape, though that was the closest approximation he could make]

Mmmmm. I could use a cup of tea, and perhaps a bit of breakfast. Although I suppose that would be a bit much to ask.

[His gaze goes to the book which had a strange look to it, curiously he moved forward and taps it and... the feed cuts out]

[Apparently the magic book didn't just show pictures, it could also simply mimic voices, how utterly fascinating]

A coffee shop? I can't say I'm familiar with the word, but as long as they have tea I am willing to give it a try.

[He is confident that he could brew superior tea. Best in Ba Sing Se! He will reserve judgment until he tastes it though. It was always nice to see how different people did so]

"Coffee" is a Western drink, quite strong and bitter. There are some who drink it back home, but it isn't to this one's taste.

[He doesn't need to feel guilty, of course. It's just how Luceti is.]

I'd like to enjoy tea and pai sho with you again sometime. [This, at least, she can say wholly truthfully and whole-heartedly.]

Heheh... I guess that's true! It's still worrying to have to spend a lot of that time stuck in - in this place.

Iiii don't think we have Ginseng in particular. But there is a tea place in town that I'm sure we'll have some! It's right on the second floor of the Welcome Center, so it's a good place to get started.

Pai sho and tea sounds absolutely delightful. I am glad this world is civilized enough to have pai sho.

[Pai Sho and tea are about all he needs in the material part of things, though musical instruments are quite nice as well]

Actually, the one who taught me pai sho was you. I enjoy it very much, though. [Which is all true, it's just also true that she thinks Iroh would appreciate the offer of a match.] I played a similar game of strategy back home, Chess.

Understandable. Well, as well as I can comprehend at the moment.

[There was a great deal to take in all at once]

That is fine, perhaps some Jasmine tea? I shall have to see this place myself regardless. Better to go three days without food, then one day without tea.

I can cast spells based from nature and light, and use staves for heaing, and causing and curing magical ailments.

Along with my magic, I also study Valega, where I absorb the sights and sounds of nature, and release my petty desires.

[Every human has such desires, but at least Saleh knows how to resist or otherwise manage them.]

[He begins to lead the way to the village.]

Ah, so you are saying I might have some competition?

[He was joking, partially. If she learned from him, she might have gained a certain level of skill. It would be interesting to see how good she was. It was a bit strange to be known more intimately by someone who you had just met. Still others knowing him before he knew their names wasn't that unusual. Such was the case of being a famous general and former crown prince]

Chess is it? I will have to try that out as well.

Well, I suppose I will give it a try to be fair. Since I own a tea store back at home, I still believe tea will be my passion, but it is always best to keep an open mind to new experiences.

I'll try to play well enough for an interesting match.

[This is modesty. She is a chess prodigy and national champion, and had taken to pai sho very well. Still, she's not likely to beat her own teacher at it, especially when she's out of practice.]

[Iroh listens carefully. While he didn't have a firm understanding of the exacts, he could gather a general understanding]

I see, I am not familiar with staves for healing, but utilizing nature to your advantage I have seen quite often. This Valega sounds a great deal like meditation, and some of the teachings of the Air Nomads of my world.

[Iroh follows along at a reasonable pace. He is moving a little slower than usual, but manages well enough]

I can check for you from the sky, then!!

[ And wow, she's suddenly a lot more interested. She knows those places! This guy is probably from home!! ]

Oh oh oh oh! You can come to OUR house, then. I bet grandpa and Katara and everyone will want to see you if you're from HOME. And you can tell me about the most EXCITING stories at a tea party, okay?

I am sure it will be.

[It was nice to see someone who wanted to play the game. Some of this was probably to help him be more comfortable, and he appreciated it]

You seem a Ginseng tea type, am I right?

[Although in the grand scheme of things, if this was a different world, anything was possible]

Grandpa and Katara? I am familiar with the name. She is an excellent water bender, who wears a water tribe engagement necklace?

[Logic dictated only Aang could be the grandfather, but he was only nearing the age to think about a family, not have one with kids of their own]

Yes...I suppose you could call it that. They do seem quite similar.

So using nature to one's advantage...is that what "waterbending" is?

[Saleh moves slowly, glancing back occasionally to make sure Iroh is keeping up.]

Yeah!! Soren will come with me, too, though. He can help you fly if you want. Probably.

[ ...Soren's not used to carrying more than a fifty-odd pound girl, these days. ]

And yeah, that's Katara. There's also Uncle Sokka, Aunt Suki, Aunt Toph, Uncle Zuko, Bolin, Asami, and Korra. And Appa and Momo and Foo Foo Cuddlypoops. From home, I mean.

[ She ticks the off on her fingers as she goes, but also says it all super fast. ]

To a degree. Water bending is the manipulation of the element of water. For some it is possible to utilize water bending to heal. There are four primary elements, water, fire, earth, and air. Each element has its own style of bending, but most can only manipulate one type, except for the Avatar.

[Iroh appreciates the concern. It is always good to find a helpful friendly stranger]

I think I will be more accustomed to staying on the ground, thank you.

[The probably wasn't exactly a reassuring thing. For those who couldn't use a cushion of air to slow their fall, probably wasn't good enough]

Ah, I think I recognized a few names in there. My nephew Zuko is here?

[The names of the royal family were not particularly common]

Foo Foo Cuddlypoops?

[That was a new one on him]

If you want! It's more fun to fly, though.

Nephew...? I dunno, is he the one with a scar who's grumpy sometimes?

And Foo Foo is Uncle Sokka's pet.

I'm sure it is. Fun can be rough on the tail bone though.

[It is also the usual way people describe him. He should work on adding a little more positivity into his nephews life]

Did you name his pet, or did he?

[With Sokka it was hard to tell]

Uncle Sokka named Foo Foo. Foo Foo is from waaaaaaaay before I was even BORN. Or like, before daddy was even born. But he's really cute and fuzzy and nice, so you'll like him. There's also Petunia and Phillip, if you want to meet them.

[He chuckles.]

Well, we'll make sure you get your fill. We might have some Jasmine. I'll just have to check cuz I'm not sure if it was finished yet. But do you need help getting to the village?

I see. He always had an interesting way with names.

[He smiles]

I am sure I will get along fabulously with Foo Foo, Petunia and Phillip. It would be nice to meet them. I believe you said something about a tea party?

I appreciate that. Jasmine tea is usually gone all too soon.

[Its fortunate tea is good for you otherwise Iroh would have sweeping health problems]
